Why I’m
building Floyd.

A love of music. A wish for something more to see.

I listen to music a lot—while I work, while I rest, and in the moments in between. Music is a pleasure on its own, but I also enjoy having something visual to watch as I listen.

That’s why I’ve spent time with music visualizers. I’ve enjoyed using them, but I kept wishing for a richer visual experience: something closer to the images I wanted to see alongside my music.

So I started building Floyd.

A visual companion for music.

With Floyd, I want to explore richer visuals inspired by what’s playing. Something that makes a familiar workspace feel a little less ordinary, and the time spent listening a little more enjoyable—whether I’m working or taking a break.

Floyd is a Mac app that captures audio from the music app or browser you select and creates visuals locally on your Mac. Your audio and listening activity stay on your device, and there are no extra charges for creating visuals.
